The 23-year-old forward Haralds Egle signs a 2-year contract with Manitoba Moose in the AHL.
A dream came true for Haralds Egle – he signs a two-year contract with Manitobe Moose, the AHL team at Winnipeg Jets. Egle was a Third-Team ECAC Hockey All-Star this past season and was the Golden Knights’ leading scorer with 32 points on a team-high 14 goals and 18 assists through 32 games. The Liepaja, Latvia native compiled 105 career points on 44 goals and 61 assists through 135 games.
Ice hockey is an important sport in Liepeja, the Latvian birthplace of Egle. He played for his home club “Metalurgs Liepaja” as a 14-year-old in the U18. For the 2011-12 season he moved to the USA and played for the “Green Mountain Glades” in the US youth league EmJHL. Then followed the “Portland Jr. Pirates” (EJHL), Musketon Lumberjacks, Madison Capitols and Chicago Steel (all in the USHL). This was followed by entry into Clarkson University and played with the hockey team in the NCAA. Well, after three seasons the scouts of the Winnipeg Jets organization became aware of the lively forward and brought him to the Manitobe Moose, in the AHL.
For Latvia, Haralds Egle played through all national youth teams and was in the squad from the U16 to the U20. With the U18 and U20 he played at a total of four world championships for his country. With his first professional contract, he hopes to put himself in the spotlight again for the Latvian senior team with a good performance.
