In the AHL Ex-Metallurg Center Igor Shvyryov wins with the Colorado Eagles at the Texas Stars 5-2.

On last weekend, 2019Texas Stars played against Colorado Eagles for the first time in the teams’ history. The Colorado Eagles – the AHL’s affiliate of Colorado Avalanche – has become the Star’s 26th different opponent.  As the USA honors military veterans with the Veteran’s Day US holiday, the game was themed a Military Appreciation Night. The players wore special camouflage jerseys that were simultaneously auctioned online for charity. The H-E-B Center at Cedar Park was sold out, with the official sell-out capacity of 6,778.

The game has started feeling like a Waterloo for the Texas Stars in the end of the first period. With only 9 shots on goal they allowed 3 goals in the last 6 minutes of the period, one of them shorthanded. When the Eagles scored the fourth goal in the beginning of the second period, the Stars starting goalie Bow was replaced by Heatherington. The change of the goalie didn’t stop Eagles from scoring, but Heatherington allowed only 1 more goal and stopped 17 shots on goal. Igor Shvyryov showed an unremarkable and yet a passable, team-friendly performance Texas Stars lost the battle with the final score 2-5.
