Dinamo Riga remain without a home defeat after a 4-3 over-time victory over Amur.
Dinamo wanted after the away defeats in the home game against Amur back to winning ways. Amur is so far without a win and wanted to end this negative series.
The first third was very balanced and both teams did not risk much at first. The only penalty was for Riga, Trastasenkovs had because of high sticking to the penalty box. However, this power play for Amur remained without consequences and the game went on unchanged. The logical consequence was a goalless draw after twenty minutes.
After the break, Riga came out of the booth with more enthusiasm. This was evident after a good move from Ashton, which McMillan used to make it 1-0 (23.). Amur started the return, but Goalie Gudlevskis was a very solid back. Shortly after halftime, there was a fight between Riga’s Marenis and Amur’s Tomas Zohorna, and both were penalized with a 5-minute penalty. Only three seconds later his brother Hynek followed him and both Zohornas of Amur sat in the penalty box. Riga did not miss this opportunity and Ullström scored the 2-0 (34.). But Amur did not give up and only three minutes later Zhelezkov scored the connection goal to 1-2 (36.).
In the final period Amur went all out. This tactic also seemed to work, as Gorshkov scored a few minutes after the restart 2-2 (46.). Riga looked a little unsure now and Amur came into play. After a fast move, Ushenin scored for Amur 3-2, the first time in this game in the lead (51). But Riga gathered all his strength again and tried to equalize. They also survived a power play for Amur. Minutes before the end, it was Mikelis Redhlis who scored Marshall’s 3-3 pass (56.). With this score, it went into the over-time.
In extra time, Riga had too many players on the ice after only 32 seconds, and there was power play for Amur. By joining forces Riga survived this delicate situation. Shortly after the expiration of the penalty but still the winning goal – Balinskis scored after pass from Darzins but still the 4-3 (63.). With this win, Riga remains unbeaten at home.
