After a 3-2 over-time victory at Spartak, Avangard is first in the Eastern Conference.
In the CSKA arena Spartak Moscow received the team from Omsk. Omsk won both games last season.
As expected, it was an exciting first period with some good chances for both teams. However, Spartak had to survive three power play games, Avangard at least one. Good defensive performance made it 0-0 after twenty minutes.
Avangard got into the game better after the break and had the first chances. After five minutes, Avangard struck with a double strike. Shirokov serves the Swiss Andrighetto and hits the 1-0 (25.). Spartak visibly in shock, because only 20 seconds later Grachyov scored the 2-0 (26.). After a few moves Spartak strengthened again and came to good chances. These two power play games, but remained for the time being without a goal. Shortly before the second break Kokarev succeeds the connection goal to 1-2 (39.).
In the final period followed an open exchange, because both teams were looking for the way to the goal. Spartak left another power play unused. Almost halfway through the period Kulik succeeds in the meanwhile well-deserved equalizer to 2-2 (52.). There were still some chances, but it stayed at this stall and it went into the over-time. The extension took only a short time – Beck hits after only 28 seconds to 3-2 and brings Avangard the victory. With this success, Avangard takes the lead in the East Conference.
