The Czech top team HC Trinec extends with the 33-year-old Guntis Galvins for another year. Galvins, who came to Trinec through HK Kurbads last season, was a strong defensive backing. The club officials therefore took the option and secured the services of the Latvian veteran.

Gavins has a very long and successful career. His career began with Prizma Riga and HS Riga 2000. In the 2006-07 season followed his first club abroad, Czech “Vsetinska hokejova”, however, returns during the season to HK Riga. A year later he went to Hungary to Szekesfehervar, who played both in the EBEL and in the Hungarian League. At the end of the season, he came back again to strengthen at the end of the season HK Riga.

In 2008-09 KHL participant Dinamo Riga became aware of Galvins and signed him. In five seasons at Riga Galvins reached the play-offs four times, in the last season 2012-13 he was even captain. It followed two troubled years, where Galvins in Russia at Yugra (KHL), in Sweden SHL at AIK and in Italy at the Bolzano Foxes (EBEL). 2015 was followed by the return to Dinamo Riga, where Galvins played two more Sisonen, before he ran aground at Trinec to new form.

For Latvia’s national team Guntis Galvins was almost continuously in the squad since the U18. For the U18 and U20 he was at four altogether, for the A-team at 13 World Championships and an Olympic participation.

For the 28-year-old forward Egils Kalns it goes to its third foreign station. Kalns spent most of his career at his home club Metalurgs Liepaja. Only in the season 2013-14 he ventured the jump to Finland. There Kalns played at “Lämärit” in the second finnish league. After only one season, he moved to Kazakhstan to “Gornyak Rudny”. There he stayed for two seasons before returning to Latvia. The following years played Kalns at Liepaja, in the 2018-19 season followed by a “short commitment” at Dinamo Riga for 7 games. Kalns scored 24 points (12G / 12A) last season and is now trying to make another start in Scotland with the Dundee Stars playing in the EIHL.
