Elvijs Biezais joins the DEL2 and Georgs Golovkovs remains a “Brit”.
After a very good season in France at Gap with 40 points (17G/23A), the DEL2 club of the “Dresdner Eislöwen” became aware of the 28-year-old forward. Biezais also reached the play-offs with the French. A year earlier in Poland at “Podhale Nowy Targ” the forward came to 39 points (23G/16A). Born in Riga, Elvijs Biezais comes from the youth of SK LSPA / Riga, where he was also called to the Latvian U18 and U20 national team. He also participated in two world championships with these two junior teams. He came to HK Riga through Dinamo Riga Juniors and gained his first experiences in the MHL.
After a mixed season 2012-13 at Dinamo Riga in the KHL, he was loaned to the Finnish club Jokipojat. After just one season in Finnlad, where he also reached the play-offs, Biezais accepted an offer from Arlan Kokshetau in Kazakhstan. With the Kazakhs he came in two years in the play-offs and 2015-16 also creates 35 points (15G/20A). From Kazakhstan, Biezais went through Neman Grodno in Belarus to Polish side Polonia Bytom before a year later “Podhale Nowy Targ” signed the foreward. Last season, Biezais was also called to the Latvian national team, but kontne not convincing. Now, the forward in Dresden has the chance to present itself again and to recommend team for the national team.
The next player who could clarify his future was Georgs Golovkovs. The 23jahre forward received an offer from the Nottingham Panthers, which Golovkovs accepted. This changes the foreward of Milton Keynes Lightning within the British EIHL. Golokovs comes from the youth of Metalurg Liepaja and dared to jump to the US as a 17-year-old.
There he played two seasons with “Drummondville Voltigeurs” in the US junior league, QMJHL. In the 2013-14 season he reached the play-offs and scored 45 points (17G/28A). One year later, he scored 41 points (12G/29A), the play-offs but remained denied. The following season Golovkovs was played for the “Waterloo Black Hawks” in the USHL, before it went to their native club, Dinamo Riga, in the KHL. For the season 2018-19, he went to “the British Isle”, where he accepted an offer from Milton Keynes Lightningin the EIHL.
For the Latvian U18 and U20 national team Elvijs Golovkovs was in a total of three world championships in use for the A-team again and again at the Hockey Challanges.
