Zemgus Girgensons signs his seventh season for the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL.
The 25-year-old Latvian Center signs for another year with the Buffalo Sabres. Girgensons’ career began as a youth player in the USA at the Green Mountain Glades in the EJHL. This was followed by two years in the USHL at the Dubuque Fighting Saints, where he was already the Leader and Captain in the second year.
At the 2012 NHL Draft, Girgensons was drawn as Pick # 14 by the Buffalo Sabers in the 1st round. The following season, 2012-13, it went to the farm team in the AHL, the Rochester Americans. After just one year, they moved to the Sabres in the NHL, where he was an important and reliable player for six seasons. Now he will start in his seventh season.
For the Latvian national team he played for the U18 and U20 three World Championships. In 2014, Girgensons was also nominated for the latvian Olympic team for Sochi. Overall, Girgensons took part in four world championships in the Top Division for the Latvian A team.
