With Kristers Freibergs the defender returns for the third time to his home club.

With regard to the upcoming season, HK Liepaja strengthened with Kristers Freibergs. The 27-year-old defender can look back on an impressive career.

Freibergs comes from the Swedish Ice Hockey Academy and was used at Linköping in the U18, as well as in the Latvian U18 national team. As a junior player, he returns to his native city Liepaja. There he played for a season with Metalurg Liepaja in the Belarusian league and with the “B” team in the Latvian championship. The following season Freibergs was active for HK Riga in the MHL and the HK Juniors in the national league. He followed the call of the distance and moved to Germany, to Hamburger SV in the third highest league. After three seasons, he came back to Liepaja. After three more years Freibergs went back to Germany, this time to the EC Bad Kissingen, who played in the fourth league. After a mixed season Freibergs now returns to Liepaja for the third time to support his team in the national championship.
