With Vladislav Kolyachonok and Alexei Protas, two Belarusian young talents were chosen at the NHL Draft 2019.

As in last year’s NHL Draft 2018, two players from Belarus were also selected in 2019. In the second round as pick #52 Vladislav Kolyachonok drew a defender. The Florida Panthers won the Minsk-born and 1.88 cm tall and 85 kg talent. Kolyachonok comes from the national junior academy in Belarus and played in the U17 and U18. In the U18 national team he played in last year’s U18 World Cup. Overall, Kolyachonok completed seven games last season for the U18 national team. In the past season he played in the OHL at the Flint Firebirds and achieved a respectable 29 points (4G / 25A).

With Alexei Protas the second player from Belarus was drawn in the third round as pick # 91. The Washington Capitals secured the services of the center. Protas comes as Kolyachonok from the Belarussian Ice Hockey Junior Academy for U17 and U18. For the national team he was in 2017/18 at the U18 World Cup in action. Last year, Protas played for Belarus in the U20 World Championship Div IA. Last season was 1.95 cm and 86 kg center in the WHL Prince Albert Raiders active and earned 40 points (11G / 29A).
