With five contract renewals and the new signing of Lauries Bajaruns of Marseille, Kurbads is taking the first steps for the new season.
A new signing by homecomer Lauris Bajaruns could also announce Kurbads. The 30-year-old comes from the youth team of Riga and also played in the Latvian U18 and U20 national team. After seven seasons with Metalurgs Liepaja he went to the Czech Republic to the club of Jaromir Jagr, Rytiri Kladno. After just one season there was a “Europe trip” with stations in Denmark (Rungsted), Slovakia (Banska Bystrica, Poprad). In the meantime, Bajaruns completed in the domestic championship at Liepaja some games and played in the following years in France (Nice) and Belarus (Metallurg Zhlobin). HK Kurbads took the first steps in planning the team for the new season. With the 38-year-old veteran Martins Cipulis and Juris Upitis (28) two forwards were further tied to the club. In addition, three defenders received new contracts. The 36-year-old Toms Bluks should continue to help in the defense to stability.
