It was a fast game, which started right away. With the first shot on goal, Mikkola beat Sweden’s goalie Lundqvist and score the 1-0 (1.). Klingberg’s power play goal to 1-1 was only the third shot from Sweden (3.). Even before the first period was over, the Swedes turned the game and went through Hörnqvist 2-1 lead (17.). After the break, the Swedes took the lead with a great goal from Elias Pettersson, with two goals in the lead (21.).

But the Finns did not give up the game yet and equalized until the middle of the game. Lindbohm scored the 2-3 (26.) and shortly before half time Hakanpaa to 3-3 compensation (30.). In the final minute of the period Gustaffsson scored the re-leadership for the Swedes to 4-3 (40.) with a powerful shot. The “In-goal”-camera was destroyed by the force of the shot. In the last period the Finns ran after this lead. In the 59th minute the Finnish captain Antilla equalized with his first goal in the tournament to 4-4. It was also in the second game of the day in Kosice in extra time. In overtime, the Finns made the surprise perfect. After about 90 seconds Manninen scored the 5-4 and the World Champion is enthroned. Finland is in the semifinals with this victory.
