Group B – Ondrej Nepla Arena, Bratislava
In the already meaningless game between Norway and Latvia, it was all about the placement. Both teams have no chance for the quarter-finals, so in the game it’s “for the honor”.
The Norwegians had the first power-play option and used this immediately. Lindström scored, after a pass from Holos, the 1-0 (16.). The Latvians were not as lively in this first period as last. At the beginning of the second period it was the other way round. Latvia with a power play and Indrasis scores to the 1-1 equalizer (23.). Afterwards, Norway had two power plays, but this time the goals went out.
The Latvian team gained momentum and came up with good chances. In a shot by Jaks the Norwegian Bonsaksen wanted to knock the puck away. The Puck is deflected so unlucky and goes to Latvia 2-1 in the Norwegian goal (47.). Only a minute later, Marenis plays through the Norwegian defense and concludes with the 3-1 (48.). After a good pass from Kenins to Indrasis, Dahm fends off his shot. The puck was then released and Kenins pushes the puck to 4-1 over the goal line (55.). Latvia wins this game and finishes 5th in the final table, 6th in Denmark.
Team Norway vs Team Latvia 1-4 (1-0, 0-1, 0-3)
Group A – Steel Arena, Kosice
The host, Slovakia, says goodbye to this World Cup with the match against Denmark. It is, as in the game in Bratislava, the placement and the honor.
One of the few high points which was a power play for the Slovaks, Bau Hansen was sitting on the penalty bench for a “late hit”. Tor fell none and highlights in this third were rare. In the second section the same playful picture, now with advantages for Slovakia. There were some good chances but the Danish goalie Dahm knew how to prevent them. In the last minute before the break, but then the gate. Marincin scored the 1-0 for the hosts (40.), the knot had burst.
Team Slovakia vs Team Denmark 1-0 OT (0-0, 1-0, 0-0, 0-0)
