Only 18 hours later, the leader, Switzerland, was back on the ice. The opponents are the so far winless Norwegians, who suffered last two sensitive defeats against the Czech Republic (2-7) and World Champion Sweden (1-9).

With much vigor Switzerland is in the game and Goalie Holm was tested by Moser equal and a shot from Diaz goes over the gate. The Norwegians drove a quick counterattack, but Olden fails on Swiss goalie Genoni. Then Switzerland was again on the train: Bertschy with a perfect pass to Ambühl, who shoves the puck under the crossbar 1-0 in the gate (6.). Norway had their first power play a few minutes later, but Martinsen and Haga lost their chances. It went back and forth and the swiss kame to a double chance. At first Diaz tried to do it and then Praplan, both ways Holm could fend off. The Swiss continued after Fiala and Andrighetto forgot their chances.

The middle period lasted only 34 seconds as Hischier recovered a pass from Fiala to 2-0 (21.). A shock to the Norwegians, who are slow to get back into the game. They had a power play, but the goal was denied. Switzerland also had a power play, as Martinsen got a 2 + 10 penalty after boarding and had to go to the penalty box. The Norwegians defended deftly and survived this phase, and came to Halbueit of the game itself to a power play. There were chances, but Holos and Olimb fail Genoni.

At the halfway point of the final period Hofman made it 3-0 (50.), the pass came from Martschini. Both teams then each had a power play, goal did not fall. Switzerland continued to play the punchy game. After a shot from Genazzi Ambühl fakes the puck untenable for Holm to 4-0 (57.). With this win Switzerland celebrates the second “to zero” victory within 24 hours and consolidates first place in the group B.

Group A – Steel Arena, Kosice

In Kosice, the US has an easy task to fulfill, Great Britain was the opponent. The British are pointless last in Group A, the Americans want to score points to save the chance of the quarter-finals.

In the Kosice the USA had more trouble than the climber expected. The USA took the lead 1-0 in a power play by Van Riemsdyk (13.). But only a few minutes later Hammond scores to 1-1 equalizer (16.). That was also the score for the first break. In the middle period it was again Hammond who had to go to the penalty box for Great Britain. The US also takes advantage of this opportunity and Keller scored the 2-1 (30.). Just two minutes later, Kreider raises to 3-1 (32.). Now only the USA played and two minutes before the second break DeBriancat scored the 4-1 (38.). The British did not back down and Perlini scored, after a solo, the 2-4 (40.).

The preliminary decision is one minute after the restart in the last period. USA Captian Kane scores the 5-2 (41.) after Kreider’s pass. At the halfway point of the period Ryan meets for 6-2 (50.), the pass came from Glendering. The US slowed down towards the end. As the British knew how to use and Davies meets to 3-6 (57.). With this victory, the US is currently in second place.
