Dinamo Riga are still in the running for the play-offs after a 3-1 win over Jokerit – Sochi defeated Vityaz Podolsk after a 1-2 to overtime 3-2.

For Dinamo it was in today’s game against Jokerit to a lot, after all, it was in the remote duel against Sochi for a play-off place. However, Riga has lost the last two games,

Riga began as in every home game with a lot of pressure on the opposing goal. After a pass from Dzerins Maione takes over directly and after about 90 seconds, the puck lands unstoppable to 1-0 in goal (2.). Of course, this early leadership gave me even more security and many more good chances. But Jokerit goalie Kalnins was able to fend off a few times very spectacular. In a power play for Jokerit – Lipsbergs sat on the penalty bench – the Finns had a top chance to equalize through Lepistö, but Bilyalov was on hand with a great reflex. Lipsbergs, who came from the penalty box, then had another goal on Kalbe’s calf, but Jokerit’s keeper could not be overcome.

After the break, Riga continued as it had stopped – with a lot of pressure on the Finnish goal. This tactic was again – after a pass from Pavlovs Dzerins scored the 2-0 (23.). Shortly thereafter, Riga also had the chance in a power plays, Videll with a very good opportunity, but he remained this goal but denied. Jokerit came in better in the game. Riga then pushed too far into the defensive. After a shot from the blue line of Grant, the puck finds the hole and it was only 1-2 (35.). This gate woke Riga up again. Meija grabs the puck in his own third and starts a solo effort, but he was stopped just in time by Lauridsen and prevented another goal.

In the final third Riga continued to pressure – McMillan gives another chance. Slowly, the wear of strength at Riga made itself felt and Jokerit came through it more. There were some chances in the series – Joensuu and Kivistö fail to Bilyalov, who emerges as a sure keeper. Shortly thereafter, Jensen was in close range and Veselainen could not beat the Dinamo goalie. About 90 seconds before the end, Jokerit put everything on one card and took goalie Kalnins off the ice. Riga took advantage of this opportunity and Darzins set the final score at 3-1 with an empty-net goal (19.). Despite this win, Riga remains two points behind Sochi, who beat Vityaz after 1: 2 in a 3-2 victory after over overtime.
