The Kunlun Red Star lose the first game under head coach Curt Fraser against Salavat Yulaev and continue to stick to 9th place in the East Conference. Lok blames CSKA.
Kunlun Red Star like the guests from Ufa started with three defeats in this match today. The Chinese KHL club hoped today but on a coaching effect, but was the first time the NHL experienced American Curt Fraser as head coach on the Bank of Kunlun.
Red Star was more challenged, as they were seven points behind the game after eighth place in the East Conference. Despite the defeats, Ufa was in the bottom of the table in sixth place. It was a victory again but Dmitri Kugryshevin outnumbered in the 55.minute the equalizer and so there was at least one point for both teams. But the extra score was won by the guests, with the scorer turning the decisive penalty to 2-2 Kugryshevin.
Ufa finished with the defeat series and now with 20 points ahead of 8th place and is practically already fixed in the playoffs. Kunlun, however, is now seven points behind a playoff spot.
Kunlun Neo-Coach Curt Fraser: “For my first game I can say that the team played great. I’m very thankful to the guys. I think we’ve earned more in this game, created many chances.” However, Fraser still believes in reaching the playoffs and hopes for a victory tomorrow in the second game against Ufa. “We have to push harder tomorrow and play a bit dirtier but of course within the allowed.”, Fraser continues.

Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg also helped with the 3-0 away win over the sixth-placed tractor Chelyabinsk. Nigel Dawes succeeded in addition to his goal to 1-0 in the 17th minute and two assists at the goals from Pare (23.) and Vasilevsky (33., PP).

By contrast, West Conference Leader CSKA Moscow had to accept the only 8th defeat of the season at Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Maxim Osipov (20.) and Evgeny Korotkov (27.) brought Lokomotiv in front. At CSKA only Mat Robinson scored in the 30th minute of the goal.
